Paws and Purrsonality Sponsorship Social Distancing Style
This year has been unprecedented in many ways. COVID-19 has impacted our lives, our community, and so many businesses. Everything looks different. At Salem Friends of Felines, we closed our thrift store for almost two months last spring, and we are still operating the shelter on an appointment-only basis.
Normally this would be the happiest time of year at Friends of Felines. Our biggest annual fundraiser, the Paws and Purrsonality dinner and auction, would have just taken place. Dozens of small businesses in Salem generously donate amazing items, and the bidding is always fast, furious and fun! This treasured event gives our community the opportunity to come together, see old friends and celebrate the good work at Friends of Felines, but it also gives the shelter the critical financial boost it needs to recover from the summer kitten season and continue its mission into the following year.
It was with heavy hearts that we decided to cancel this year’s event. This was done primarily to keep our community and staff healthy and safe, but also because we simply could not ask Salem’s small businesses, who have always supported Friends of Felines so generously in the past, to donate auction items when they are struggling as well.
Despite cutting costs wherever possible, the shelter’s daily operating costs exceed $1,000 per day – the vast majority of that going directly to the shelter, food and medical care of each cat we take in. As we grapple with the loss of our biggest annual fundraiser, we ask that you please consider supporting Friends of Felines through the different levels of sponsorship listed on the following page. All are available for purchase on our website: www.sfof.org.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your continued support in these uncertain times. We are hopeful that your belief in our mission and your generous contributions will help Salem Friends of Felines weather this storm and continue to save the lives of our feline friends for many years to come.
