Greetings cat fanciers! Welcome back to our newsletter, where we will feature more regular updates, stories, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the lifesaving work happening every day at Friends of Felines.
From the cats in our care to the families and community members we serve, there’s always something happening—and we can’t wait to keep you connected to the work you make possible.
Kitten season is beginning to wind down, and it’s been an incredibly busy one here at Friends of Felines! Since March 1, we’ve welcomed 393 kittens into our care and found loving homes for 320 kittens over the past six months. We still have more than 75 kittens in foster care, so there are plenty of little ones still waiting for their forever families!
Our intake numbers also include an emergency transfer of 22 kittens with ringworm from Harney County Stray Rescue in eastern Oregon. Their foster homes were threatened by three wildfires that moved dangerously close to the area, and they had only a few hours’ notice to evacuate. We were honored to step in and provide these kittens with a safe place to land while their community faced an incredibly difficult situation.
It takes an amazing network of fosters, volunteers, adopters, and supporters to get through kitten season—and we couldn’t do it without you! Our 60 active foster families played a vital role in caring for all of these kittens over the last 6 months, and we’re so grateful for their help.
We’re gearing up for our biggest event of the year—the Paws & Purrsonality Gala! This year, we’re going totally tubular with an unforgettable ’80s-themed bash filled with fun, nostalgia, and plenty of opportunities to support the cats we love.
Guests can enjoy exciting games with chances to win local wines and stunning jewelry, plus the opportunity to bid on some seriously yummy desserts. There’s a reason this event was voted Best Local Charity Event last year—and we’re ready to make this year’s gala even more unforgettable!
