Microchip leads to emotional reunion for missing kitty Lulu

A Good Samaritan found Lulu wandering outside her home near Turner and brought her to Friends of Felines for a chip scan.

Our shelter lobby was home to a tearful reunion recently as we were able to return Lulu, a missing kitty, to her owner Tabby.

It started when a community member found a stray cat outside her home on Delaney Road. Sharon saw Lulu was trying to get inside her house and concluded she probably had an owner missing her. She fed the kitty, got her into a carrier and took her to Friends of Felines.

Lulu was fortunately microchipped, so we were able to scan her chip and look up her owner’s phone number.

Tabby picked up the phone right away and asked if we had her cat. She hopped in her car and came to get Lulu and thank Sharon, who stuck around so they could meet.

Lulu had been missing from her home since May. She jumped right into Tabby’s arms, snuggling and kissing her mom. By the time she got in a carrier to head home, there wasn’t a dry eye in the shelter.

Tabby told us Lulu loves to ride in the car to get coffee or pick her human siblings up from school. She suspects her kitty might have hitched a ride over to Enchanted Forest.

Lulu is now safely home after enjoying a salmon Churu at the shelter. We’re so grateful to Sharon for bringing Lulu in so we could help bring these two back together.

This happy ending shows why microchipping your cat is so important. If your pet ever gets lost, a chip significantly raises the odds your cat can return home to you.
